Exciting New STEAM Program for K-4 Students This Fall
At Saint Mary School, we believe that children learn best through play. When kids are engaged in hands-on, interactive learning activities, their creativity flourishes, and their interest in school grows. This fall, we're thrilled to announce a fantastic new partnership with Snapology, a premier provider of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) programs. This exciting collaboration will bring enriching educational experiences to all students in grades K-4 during their regular science classes.
What is Snapology?
Snapology is renowned for its innovative approach to education, offering year-round programs in schools, community facilities, homes, and their own Discovery Centers. Their classes are designed based on research that shows children learn best when they actively design, create, interact, and invent. By integrating these principles into our curriculum, we aim to ignite a passion for learning in our students.
Monthly STEM Instruction
Starting this fall, all SMS students in grades K-4 will receive monthly STEM instruction from Snapology. Here's a glimpse of the exciting topics and projects they'll be exploring:
Robotics and Coding: Students will dive into the world of robotics, creating interactive games and vehicles, and exploring real-world robotics like windmills, bridges, and cars.
Engineering Projects with Motors: Hands-on projects such as building conveyor belts, cars, spin art machines, and roller coasters will teach the basics of engineering.
Coding with Cubelets: Using robotic cubes, kids will learn about sensors, lights, motion, and programming in a fun and interactive way.
STEM Challenges: From making a pinball machine to building chain reaction models, catapults, mosaic art, and physics towers, students will engage in a variety of creative and challenging activities.
Science Projects with LEGO Bricks: They'll explore planets and constellations, animal habitats, national landmarks, and the science of sports and physics, all through the lens of LEGO construction.
Escape Room Challenge (Grades 3-4 Only): Older students will test their problem-solving and critical thinking skills in a thrilling escape room challenge.
